“The journey started in 2008, inspired by my curiosity with epigenetics. Almost 10 years later and after the 2016 election I came to realize it was time to share what I learned.

An 18-month journey to 13 countries helped me track down what I call DNA Memory. I worked with a genealogist to trace my family origins and then traveled to each place to learn about the lives that led up to my own. More about my ancestry was revealed with a DNA test, which I took through Family Tree DNA, the organization powering National Geographic’s Genographic Project. Recently, I took 23 and Me to double check things. Then something interesting happened. I began to understand how we are linked in ways that are unseen.

It’s powerful to see that scientists (specifically in the epigenetics field) are discussing how the negative impact on our human and environmental rights correlate to our quality of life — personally, in communities and for this traveling globe we call earth. It’s sad to see much of this evidence, but promising because the data is making visible a new layer of the impact that will be hard to ignore.

My book offers a series of intersectional short stories to spotlight an ancient wound along with humble recommendations. The point is to open a dialogue on how we may recover from deeply rooted pain with the goal to produce better outcomes for us all. This book elucidates the origins of terrorism by offering a fresh lens but actually seeks to offer much more. It’s a new theory on how to view the impact of humans on each other and the world at large.”
